Week Commencing: 17th July 2017
Y4C created PowerPoints showcasing their fun-filled time in Year 4. They shared it with Y3T and answered their questions about Year 4.
Year 1SC used world maps and atlases to travel the world with Barnaby Bear.
Sportsperson of the Year 2017
Congratulations to our outstanding sportsman and sportswoman of the year 2017, as well as our worthy runners up.
In Y2PD we have been thinking about what makes a good friend.
Y4C had two very special visitors today and they had great fun petting them.
Year 4W had an exciting lesson telling Year 3A what a fantastic year they have had. Year 4W had previously made PowerPoints showcasing all the exciting things they have done, which they shared with Year 3A.
Y1RB really enjoyed the trip to the Liverpool World Museum.
This week KS2 gathered together to celebrate a fantastic year in sport. Every child who participated in an after school club (of which there were 28) received their certificates. Some children were also awarded individual certificates for their extra special contributions during the year.

Congratulations to all 200 children who performed so magnificently at the Theatre Royal in this year's 'Legh Vale's Got Talent'
As part of our work on Harry Potter Y5M have been designing and making their own games.
Y6H have been sharing their Ancient Greece presentations that they have created at home.
Y3T learned that 'it is nice to be nice' today. They gave each other compliments and learned to boost each other's self esteem.
Y4 enjoyed writing a recount about our fantastic trip to Stockley Farm.
Year 1 created their own Georgia O'Keefe inspired flowers.
We would like to say a big thank you to the theatre staff, parents, teachers, assistants and the children for making this year's show an unforgettable experience.
Y6 have been learning about how light travels. They have completed a number of investigations throughout the week.
Y5H have been sharing their presentations about different countries.
Y1RB have really enjoyed learning how to measure.
Y4C were too excited about getting a sneaky preview of our brand new library books. They got the chance to have a read and they found some books that they really enjoyed.
KS2 Fencing club
Week Commencing: 3rd July 2017
Y3A had a fabulous time at Blackpool. We pointed out key landmarks and had lots of fun making sand volcanoes on Blackpool beach.
Reception loved having some special tortoise visitors this week.
Y6H enjoyed a thrilling rounders match!
Year 1 have had fun designing Indian inspired elephants.
Year 4W had an amazing time at Stockley Farm, we all had the opportunity to feed baby goats and sheep. We also went on a tractor ride.
Year 3 had a fantastic time on their trip to Blackpool Tower. We enjoyed the 4D cinema and a circus show, finished with playtime on the beach.
Nursery PM said goodbye to our butterflies.
Y1EM enjoyed creating their own American flag inspired by Jackson Pollock.
Y6A made their very own Greek-inspired pots.
Y3T practised their communication skills by organising themselves into groups quickly and effectively. Sometimes this was done without talking!
Y1RB have really enjoyed learning about Africa.
Y5H have had another exciting afternoon at Haydock High School, taking part in a Chemistry lesson.
Year 4C enjoyed their end of year trip to Stockley Farm where they met lots of exciting animals and had fun; they even got to feed lambs.

Reception enjoyed releasing their butterflies this week.
This week Y6A designed Greek pots in preparation for our clay work next week.
Y2 have enjoyed a visit from the 'Kingfisher Water workshop'.

Y3A had an amazing time erupting their volcanoes.
Congratulations to our Y6 football team who won the Haydock Cup.
Y1RB really enjoyed our visit from United Utilities.
Y1EM have had fun playing 'Body Part Bingo' as part of our science topic, 'Animals including Humans'.
Year 6 had an exciting time meeting Saints rugby players at the Whittle Cup.
In Maths, Year 5 have been learning how to find percentages of numbers. We then put our knowledge to the test, playing a percentage board game in pairs.
Year 5 have been solving problems in pairs.
KS2 and Year 2 has a visit from Firehorse Productions. The children watched a fantastic performance about being safe 'online' and 'offline'.
Y4C have been practicing their class dance for LVGT.
Congratulations to some Year 3 children who all performed amazingly well during their gymnastics and football competitions this weekend.
Nursery children enjoyed their time playing in Reception.
We had a super afternoon in Y3T creating our own superheroes! We used our handprints to create a superhero identity.
In Y3A we began looking after our own plants. We made some very sensible predictions of what might happen to them over the next few weeks.
Y2SM created puppet shows using wooden spoon puppets.
Following the Firehorse Productions performance, Y4W discussed how to stay safe online.
Week Commencing: 19th June 2017
Y3T enjoyed learning all about famous inventors and their inventions. This inspired us to invent something new. Fidget spinner land was a firm favourite!
Year 6 have produced art work in the style of Clarice Cliff.
Blue group have been learning about the 'Naughty Bus' visitor and writing about what he has been doing.
Y2 have been sketching and playing maths games while enjoying the recent sunny weather.
It's been great looking after our tadpoles in Y2, but now they're frogs they need to go into the pond!
An exciting afternoon in Y5M testing their own boat designs.
Reception have been searching for minibeasts in the sunshine.
Mr Jones, a former governor, volunteer and great friend to the school, was remembered with great fondness this morning at the official opening of a memorial garden in his name.
Mr Howard had great fun in the sun teaching rounders to Y6A.
Y4W had fun learning how to draw animals step by step.
Y5H have been building electrical circuits at Haydock High School.
Y3A have enjoyed their colour study inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky.
Y2SM created real and alien words using word wheels.
Y4C enjoyed doing P.E. on the field in the glorious sunshine.
Nursery morning children visited Underwater Street for the full day.
Nursery have been growing and caring for vegetables in our garden.

Year One have been eating edible poo to find out whether it belonged to a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore!
Reception have been working hard on their number work. We worked with a partner to halve different numbers.
Y2 have been observing caterpillars as part of their science work.
Y1 have been learning about the life cycle of a frog.
This week, Y6A designed and described their very own mythical creatures, resulting in some amazing pieces of writing!
Y3A had fun learning about British birds in the outdoor classroom, then we went to the school garden to do a spot of bird watching.
Y6 competed at the contact rugby tournament held at Wargrave Primary School.
Y5H have been creating their own computer game using Kodu.
Y6H enjoyed competing against Y6A in an Ancient Greeks style Olympics tournament!
Y5M have had lots of fun making and testing their own parachutes to see which are the most air resistant.
Y4W enjoyed making a PowerPoint for the Year 3 children.
Y3T had lots of fun erupting their volcanoes!
Y4C had their first game of diamond cricket in P.E. and they loved it.
Y2 had fun at Quarry Bank Mill.
In Y4C we made Father's day cards - but shhh - don't tell dad.
Earlier this year...
We celebrated World Book Day 2017 with a huge range of activities all linked to books and our love of reading. Many children completed reading challenges, competitions and dressed up as characters from books.
The KS2 choir performed with Haydock Male Voice Choir at St Mark's Church, as part of our Christmas celebrations.
Nursery enjoyed taking letters to the post box.
Year 2 enjoyed taking part in a Science Club.
Key Stage 2 enjoyed their recent sports day. All children behaved impeccably and good sportsmanship was shown by all.
Lower Key Stage 2 had a fantastic time at their Spanish Club.
Our children have learnt basic yoga skills.
We have recently had a visit from 'The Pop Project'. Its aim was to promote British values such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, all through the medium of music. The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance, with some of our pupils getting the opportunity to dress up or play an instrument.
Year 5 have been studying the exciting period of History when the Ancient Egyptians lived. They created their very own Egyptian Mummies.
What a wonderful time everybody had at our Summer Fair!
Our school took part in “Move It“ as part of National Guide Dog Week. The children had the opportunity to bring a small donation towards training a guide dog puppy, and came to school dressed in sports wear ready for us to “move it“ during the school day.
Y6 took part in first aid training, where they learnt how to resuscitate and place a person in the recovery position.
Year 4 took part in a Rugby competition held at the Saints training ground.
Year 6 enjoyed a fascinating trip to the Imperial War Museum. Here we saw real-life versions of all the exciting things we have been learning about during our History topic.
Year 6 children thoroughly enjoyed learning all about animals during Pet Week.
Year 4 visited the Saints Stadium to take part in a Sky Try Experience. During this visit, the children had a tour of the stadium and the dressing rooms, a talk on healthy eating and took part in a sports lesson.
Year 4 children enjoyed visiting Haydock High School to take part in Maths, Computing and English lessons.
We had a visit from Google Expeditions, who gave the children the opportunity to use a virtual-reality teaching tool. The children could swim with sharks, visit outer space, walk through a museum, and more without leaving the classroom.
