Welcome to our school blog, here you will find a snapshot of events taking place at Legh Vale on a weekly basis from Nursery to Y6.
Week Commencing: 27th November
It has been a very festive week in Y3. The children wrote their letters to Father Christmas and posted them. They are very excited to see if he replies.
RBT enjoyed writing about their own favourite teddies!
Year 6 have had a fabulous pet-themed week in school. There has been: a visit to Clipsley Pets & Aquatics, a birds of prey show, a visit from some exotic pets and guide dogs too. See the Gallery for more photographs.
RCM enjoyed bring their teddies to school. They wrote a letter to Santa to ask for a friend for their teddy.
Week Commencing: 20th November
RCM worked together to solve some addition calculations using cubes.
Year 6 enjoyed acting part of Oliver Twist. They then produced some excellent diary extracts from his point of view.
The winning teams from Y6 presented their ideas for the Innovation and Conservation Project to judges from Chester Zoo and St. Helens Chamber of Commerce, who were very impressed. Well done!
Y5 had a fantastic maths lesson practising their doubling skills.
Y3 had a great time visiting our local church to learn all about the Nativity.
Y5M had fun learning about the process of mummification, as part of their History topic.
Y1JL had a lovely time learning all about the Christmas story on their visit to St Mark's church.
Week Commencing: 13th November
RCM enjoyed coming to school in our pyjama's and Pudsey clothes to support 'Children in Need' and 'Type-onsie'. We had such a fun day and also ate some delicious ice-cream.
Congratulations to our boys football team who represented St. Helens in the Merseyside finals with this week.
Thank you to Mr and Mrs Watkinson who kindly donated an ice cream to over 500 pupils and staff members to promote the message of anti-bullying.
Family Fun at the Christmas Bingo. Thank you to FOLV for organising a fantastic evening.
RBT had an exciting day when a superhero came to read us our new story 'Supertato'!
We had a smile on our faces whilst we supported Children in Need and Type-onsie day. Thank you for your donations towards these worthy charities.
This week Y3 and Y5 had a planetarium come into school. Y5 learnt about the Earth and beyond whilst Y3 travelled back in time to discover dinosaurs.
Y5H had fantastic fun learning about mummification.
Y5M have been designing and painting their own Egyptian Mummy masks.
Week Commencing: 6th November
Year 3 had a fantastic time dissecting owl pellets.
It was all smiles at the dodgeball tournament on Friday. Our squad entered the first ever competition of its kind in St. Helens. One team even made it through to the semi-finals.
Y1JL have been learning how to sort 3D shapes using different every day objects.
Y6 have been working hard on our Chester Zoo innovation projects. Good luck to all! More images to follow on the gallery...
Y5H have been in the 'Hot Seat'.
Congratulations to our indoor athletics team who won their heat in last week's town tournament. They will now have to wait until all heats have been completed; then they will find out if they were overall St. Helens champions.
KS2 had a lovely remembrance assembly on Friday. Thank you to the veterans from the Friendly Loyals who came in to show their respect too.
Y6H have been learning the scientific names for bones in the human skeleton. We made models.
Y6M had fun labeling bones of the skeleton on real-life models!
In Science, Y5 have been learning about the phases of the moon. During the half term holidays, each child kept a moon diary to record how the moon changed each night. The children produced some amazing posters, fact files and PowerPoint presentations to showcase their findings.
RCM enjoyed reading the story 'Pumpkin Soup' We then chopped up a real pumpkin to make some of our own soup.
RBT enjoyed reading the story 'Pumpkin Soup'. Then we made our own pumpkin soup and tasted it!
