Welcome to our school blog, here you will find a snapshot of events taking place at Legh Vale on a weekly basis from Nursery to Y6.

Week Commencing 29/1/18

Year 3 had a wonderful time creating Stonehenge out of biscuits as part of their Stone Age topic. What a tasty lesson they had!

RBT enjoyed listening to 'You Choose' this week in their English lessons. They chose to be lots of different characters during their role play.

Year 1 have enjoyed being scientists this week. They have been carrying out ice experiments.

Week Commencing 22/01/18

Y4D have been balancing in gymnastics. 

Y1RB had lots of fun using pastels and paint to create a Northern Lights picture. 

Year 1/2 enjoyed travelling, rolling and jumping in gymnastics.

Year 2 used atlases and maps to locate the four countries of the United Kingdom and their capital cities.

Y1JL enjoyed writing about Arctic animals this week - in particular glittering the finished product!

Week Commencing: 15/01/18

Y1RB have really enjoyed learning about the Polar Regions. This week they have been writing animal fact files using non-fiction books.

Y2 SM built and tested a raft as part of our floating and sinking topic.

RBT had lots of fun building a winter house for the bear.

Y5 are 'Supermovers'. As part of a new government initiative, we have been practising our maths through physical activity. 

In Science, Y5 have been testing which material is the most absorbent.

Year 2 created artwork inspired by the Russian abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky.

Y1SM followed instructions to make hot chocolate.

Year 6 had fun making WW2 themed collages.

Y6 have started their gymnastics unit in P.E. They will be developing their ability to perform balances and counter-balances

Y3 have really enjoyed creating freeze frames from the Anthony Browne story 'The Tunnel'.

Week Commencing: 08/01/18

Year 2 explored artefacts from the Jewish faith as part of our R.E topic.

Y4F enjoyed taking part in a debate linked to our English topic 'The Iron Man'.

Year 6 have been learning about the effects of exercise on our heart rates.

Y4F have enjoyed practising their map reading skills.

Year 3 have really enjoyed comparing stories by Anthony Browne. Our favourite so far is 'The Tunnel'.

This week,Y5M have been setting their own personal goals and looking at the people who inspire them.

 

Year 6 had fun acting out the circulatory system. 

Y1JL have enjoyed starting the year by learning about how to keep warm. In DT all the children made hot chocolate - they loved it! 

1RB really enjoyed making hot chocolate and learning about how it keeps them warm.

RBT enjoyed learning to put the months of the year in chronological order.
