Welcome to our school blog, here you will find a snapshot of events taking place at Legh Vale on a weekly basis from Nursery to Y6.
Year 6 created some beautiful 3D Easter cards to take home. We hope you like them.
Reception enjoyed acting out the Easter story in the hall. Year 1 and 2 came to watch.
The School Council have had a fantastic morning at Earlestown Tesco talking to customers and encouraging them to use their blue tokens to vote for Legh Vale as part of the Bags of Help Scheme. Thank you to everyone who has voted so far in all three stores across Haydock and Earlestown. The voting will remain open until the end of April.
Here is some of our wonderful Easter art work on display in St. Mark's Church. The church has work on display from Reception to Year 6. Haven't we got some talented artists?

Year 3 have put a huge amount of effort into this term's reading challenge. Well done to everybody that has taken part.
Y4F enjoyed making clay dragon eyes in Art.
Y6 have been making the most of the nice weather. We enjoyed developing our basketball skills in PE.

Nursery children enjoyed lots of craft activies and baking.
It has been an egg-citing time for Year 3 Reading Champions! A super effort this half term Year 3, keep it up.
Y1JL loved taking part in an Easter egg hunt this week. They searched all around KS1 and found lots of letters. They worked in groups to unscramble them all to make some Easter words.

Year 4D have enjoyed making dragon eyes from clay.
Y5 have been practising their basketball skills during PE lessons.
Year 3 were invaded by a Roman army. All the children had a wonderful time as trainee Roman soldiers.
Year 4 Craft Club!
Year 4D had a 'ball' showing of their dribbling skills in P.E.
Y1RB are really enjoying team games in PE. We have been learning how to play bench ball this week.
In English, Y5H have been acting out playscripts from different films. Here we are acting out a scene from Shrek.
Y5H have had a lovely afternoon thinking about our school values. We worked in small groups to create freeze frames for each value.
Year 3 have had a fantastic time visiting Christ Church. They thoroughly enjoyed taking part in different activities at the church. All the children behaved brilliantly.
Y2SM were introduced to column addition in a practical way.
Y1SM enjoyed playing shop, matching coins to amounts to calculate how much they spent in total.
An amazing effort from our Year 3 Reading Champions this week. Well done girls!
Week Commencing: 12th March 2018
This week in Y5M we have had a fabulous week in the Dragons Den. Working as a team, we pitched our ideas to try and convince the Dragons to invest in our inventions.
Wow! Another incredible week of reading in Year 3. A huge congratulations to our Reading Champions. Keep up the super effort Year 3.
Year 4 enjoyed their visit to St Mark’s Church for their annual Easter walk through.
Congratulations to our Sportshall athletics team who won the Merseyside County Championships on Tuesday. A magnificent team performance!
Y1RB have had lots of fun for Science week. They have been carrying out experiments to find out which material is waterproof.
This week, Y1JL have done lots of work on materials and their favourite was the umbrella experiment. They tested which was the best material for Teddy's new umbrella.
RBT were happy to find the weather a bit warmer this week! They enjoyed using the outside area with their friends.
Y1/2SM joined together with Y2SC to enjoy an afternoon of science experiments and activities. The favourite was the volcanic bottle of pop!
In Nursery we floated oil and different coloured inks on the water. The children were amazed to see the marbled results.
Week Commencing: 5th March 2018
Nursery children enjoyed dressing up as part of World Book Day.
RCM found a dinosaur egg in our 'Dinosaur Cave'. They were very excited and wrote about how we need to look after the precious egg.
Two ladies from the St Helens Smoking Hub came into Year 4 to teach the children about the dangers of smoking and the effect it has on our bodies.
Year 6 have been learning about the properties of 3D shapes.
Fingers crossed for Y1/2 who tried to win one million pounds playing a space knowledge game.
Year 2 applied their balance and co-ordination skills in team games and races.
A huge well done to our first Year 3 Reading Champions. We are very proud of you all. Who will be our champions next week?
Y1RB have really enjoyed designing and creating rockets in DT.
Year 3 have been learning all about money. They worked very hard finding ways of making £1, £2 and £5.
A fantastic well done to our Y6 teams who came 2nd and 3rd during a quiz at Haydock High School.
RCM really enjoyed World Book Day. We all looked fantastic in our costumes and enjoyed reading some of our favourite stories with the older children ine Year 5 and 6.
Y1/2 had a wonderful book day and enjoyed writing their own stories.
Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed making biscuits for Mother's Day. Yum!
Y5H have been enjoying their PE lessons. They have been creating gymnastic routines to include balances, rolls, jumps and movement.
RCG have been learning about money and what different foods cost.

Y2SC were full of character today when celebrating World Book Day 2018.
RBT had a brilliant day for World Book Day. We had fun sharing our favourite stories with each other as well as with year 5 and 6 children.
Y1JL have learnt lots about weighing and measuring. They had fun with the scales weighing different items from within the classroom to see which one was heavier.
