Week Commencing: 25th November 2019
Y1CF really enjoyed the 'Christmas Walk Through' at St Mark's Church.
Y1JL impressed everyone at St Mark's Church with their knowledge of the Christmas Story.
Y4F loved playing some musical instruments as part of their Science lesson about 'Pitch'.
Y3NC enjoyed their Christmas Walk Through at St Marks Church this week.
Nursery children walked to the Post Box on Edward Road to post their letters to Father Christmas.
A big thank you to the Co-op for their kind donation towards our playground developments.
Year 3 were very excited to find out they'd had a visit from the Conductor of the Polar Express.
Week Commencing: 18th November 2019
This week Y1 have enjoyed collecting sticks ready to make their very own Stick Man.
Y5S have enjoyed mummifying each other this week as part of their Ancient Egyptian topic!
Y5M have been exploring the discovery of the Tutankhamun's tomb. The children then created their own 'Dazzling Death Mask'.
Y1JL decided that after his adventures, Stickman would need a hot chocolate to warm him up. They had so much fun making (and drinking) their own hot chocolates and went on to write some super instructions.
Nursery children have loved playing with their new Peppa Pig toys. Thank you for all the other kind donations of toys.
Y6M enjoyed creating a song all about The Blitz in the tune of The Spice Girls!
What a fun way to learn more about the Ancient Egyptian process of mummification!
Y3K have enjoyed finding magnetic objects in their classroom.
Y4F enjoyed taking part in some drama techniques which helped us to develop our characterisation and improvisation skills.
Week Commencing: 11th November 2019
Nursery children observed themselves closely before painting their self portrait.
12 Year 6 children represented our school at St. Helens town hall as part of our innovation project. They performed their own representations of issues they see in our town to other schools and MD productions. Well done children - your attitude, ideas and behaviour have made us all proud.
Y6A revised their word classes.
Y3K have enjoyed being very musical this week.
On Tuesday, both Year 5 classes attended 'Crucial Crew'. The children participated in activities to help them understand how to keep themselves safe and who can help them.
Nursery children continued to draw members of their families.
Y6M learnt how shadows are formed and had fun experimenting with different objects.
Y2PM worked together to match the names of materials with their properties before thinking about the suitability of given materials.
Y1JL have been enjoying the story Stickman. They loved taking Stickman on a journey through a story map and used lots of excellent language to say how he might feel.
Y3C have been working hard on their new Science topic, even creating their own freeze frames with their partners to represent 'pushes' and 'pulls'.
Week Commencing: 4th November 2019
Veterans from the Friendly Loyals association joined us in a service of Remembrance.
Reception have ben working hard on their number work this week. They practised their adding skills using Sammy Squirrels acorns.
Y5S pupils created posters to present what they found out through research on their chosen planet.
Year 3 have been very busy this week, learning the art of cross stitch.
Y5M pupils visited Haydock High School to participate in a computer science workshop. They impressed the secondary school teacher with their coding skills when programming a micro-bit to recreate a Tamagotchi toy.
Y1 JL have been working very hard to understand subtraction. They used counters and cubes to make their own subtraction number sentences. They did a great job!
Two Y5M pupils joined 14 other pupils from other local schools to help the author, Tracy Spiers, create artwork for the Canary Sings Project. They were given the opportunity to ask ex-miners questions about what it was really like to work in the mine.
